Aim: Monitoring machine key functional parameters and application of smart control algorithms during the operation phase.
Technologies: Fiber Bragg Grating
Description: A sensing system to accurately detect excessive wear, functional abnormalities, or the imminent malfunction of machines such as compressors, turbines, pumps and the like play a key role to optimize the machine performance and reduce maintenance costs. Our remote sensors reading unit within a control room in a safe zone and a large number of FBG cascaded in a single fiber link are used to implement a complete machine diagnostic and control system. A complete sensing system can be realized comprising: Multi-point FBG array for temperature distribution monitoring along critical machine sections to detect anomalous hot spots; dynamic and static FBG pressure sensing useful to check for example suction and discharge stage efficiency and FBG accelerometer to provide vibration monitoring of various machine components.
When the application requires a temperature monitoring system with sensors operating temperature range up to 500 °C our HT-Flex500 and HT-Tube500 are the best way to address this harsh environment. Steam turbines is an example of machine for power generation where temperature distributions along the case surface and casing thickness represent a functional key parameter during the standard operating conditions to optimize the start-up, shut-down and load condition phases.
